Should YOU Be Concerned About Balancing Your Hormones No Matter Your Age?
Absolutely! Many times we think of hormonal changes as occurring just at menopause, but that is simply not true! Although, certainly during this time variations in balance occur, even teen girls can have imbalances that can create problems with loss of hair, facial hair growth, etc. And, for women in their childbearing years, high levels of progesterone can contribute to miscarriage. Emotional swings, depression, and loss of desire for sexual intimacy can be signals of hormonal imbalances in women of all ages.
So, what’s a girl to do about it? Most of us have heard scary stories about the side effects of hormone supplementation that leave us wondering if we can do anything to counteract the negatives of imbalances. My personal opinion, and I believe research supports this, is that synthetic hormone supplementation is extremely risky. As women, we must do the research and get the facts, and stop relying on pharmaceutical companies to provide us with answers. Hello! Moneymaking is involved there, so be objective!
“You are what you eat” is an old adage that holds true. Our bodies need certain fuel to function well and to be in balance. My favorite information on how to balance female hormones comes from Dr. Bob DeMaria and his book, Balancing Female Hormones. He takes a completely natural approach without drugs.
Why do we think drugs can fix things? Perhaps years of propaganda to sell drugs!
My second fave in more extreme needs to balance hormones is totally bioidentical hormone replacement without synthetic drugs. Suzanne Somers is perhaps the greatest advocate for bioidenticals. With this type of hormone balance technique, a woman’s blood and saliva analysis (this can be done for men as well) reveals deficiencies and imbalances by looking at hormone levels, body chemistry, and the thyroid and adrenal gland function. The doctor can then prescribe natural means to correct dysfunction with plant-derived, pharmaceutically compounded supplements.
“BodyLogicMD Chief Medical Officer Jennifer Landa explained that a customized regimen of bioidentical hormones, which are an exact chemical match to the body’s own hormones, can help replace the hormones that your body may be lacking. Hormone levels decline as you age, especially during menopause, andropause (the male menopause) and other hormone imbalances. Bioidentical hormone doctors use natural or bioidentical hormones versus bio-similar or synthetic hormones. Bioidentical hormones are molecule-by-molecule, exactly the same as the hormones (estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, cortisol, dhea, estradiol and estriol) present in the human body. Your bioidentical hormone replacement physician will assess your individual needs and work to restore these hormones and customize a medical plan specifically for you. (Body Logic M.D.)“
I recommend you get Dr. Bob’s book and read, research, and start balancing your hormone levels at whatever age you are, even as a young woman. Remember, the number one, best way to do that is through diet. Changing your diet to provide proper body fuels early on is the best way to go! If you’re experiencing extreme circumstances or having any symptoms of menopause, consult a doctor who specializes in bioidenticals. Be sure to get the facts!
The scriptures say, “With long life He will satisfy you, and show you His salvation.” Our bodies are exposed to environmental challenges, and may go through negative changes, but there are tools to help us live the best life possible. Coupled with meditation on scriptures concerning health and God’s promises and dealing with life God’s way, these tools can help us join our faith with positive action!

Thank you for addressing this important subject Pastor Drenda!
I have, very recently, seen a Dr. that gave me a blood and saliva test to see where my hormone levels are at. She prescribed some bioidentical hormones for me , along with DHEA, and some other vitamins. I feel like a new person. My brain fog is gone. Many of my food sensitivities are gone. I have energy…no more afternoon naps!!! My emotions have stabilized. I can handle stress 100% better! No more panicking and overreacting at difficult situations.
I recommend to every woman to be tested. It can make a world of difference!!
God Bless you, Eileen Alford

Eileen,
That’s so awesome. I believe so many women have been robbed of the joy of the 40 plus years because their hormonal imbalances brought emotional and physical break-downs resulting in relational breakdowns in their marriages, homes and careers. It’s sad to think that at the season when moms need to be emotionally stable—teenaged kids, and/or the birth of grandchildren—that our emotions could wreck havoc on already challenging changes. So grateful God gave the herbs for the healing of nations(and natural bio-identical hormones!)
Thanks for watching and sharing!
Love, Drenda
